Voting

First round voting took place between July 7-15, with 2nd round voting between 15-30th.

Over 185 ballots were collected, but 7 of those were from duplicated (and triplicated) email addresses and were thrown out,  We kept the original ballot, but threw out the extras.  Some of the voting categories had winners who won by 1-2 votes, so it was only fair to throw out those, and to go back and check and double check the winners.

Of the 178 individual responses that were calculated, these are your winners!

You’ll see Fan Favorites at the top, and some special editor picks at the bottom:

Congratulations to all of our winners!

If you see an asterisk on a winner, it’s because The Gluten Free Guide still has some questions that the restaurant must answer successfully before we can issue the award, but we are in talks with them currently about it.

Editor Picks

We also felt like there were some “lifetime achievement” ish awards that were required for people who have continuously been bragged about on our pages time and time again and who have constantly set the bar high with their 5 star recommendations.  ALL of our editor picks ARE in fact, Celiac Safe.  We do realize that some of the categories may have been a little unfair in terms of how they were set up and that some of the voting may not have been from the Celiac sprue / Gluten intolerant community, so we wanted to account for that as well by going back through the page and listing who a) came up over and over again b) had a track record of amazing service and who c) was Celiac safe.  We’ve decided to pick 5 businesses each year compiled from reviews / editor votes / as well as from feedback to the page year round to add to our awards.

Here are the editor picks for 2019:

Gluten Free Guide to New Orleans Editors Picks for Consistency & Customer Service Excellence:

Catalino’s

Creme Confectionery

Broad Street Cider

Mac & Moon

Girls Gone Vegan

Congratulations to all of our winners, both editor picks and fan favorites!   Each of these businesses will be receiving a digital sign that they can put on their menu, website, social media, or wherever else they’d like.  They’ll also be receiving a printed sign that they can display in their store or at their festival displays.  PLEASE patronize these businesses as it will mean more options for us in the long run, and that your money is going to people who legitimately care about you.  In addition to these businesses all providing exemplary service to the gluten free community, most of them (minus just a few) are locally owned & operated.

Thank you so much!!

Finally, there will be a big announcement TOMORROW about our Gluten Free printed / pdf guide! It will be coming out on 8/30!

There are two versions, a pdf guide with a brief overview of the restaurants that are safe, as well as links to their menus online.    That version is $10.99 regular price but on sale for $5.99 through 8/30 if you pre-order

There’s also a complete guidebook that will be printed, full-color, and full of all of the goodies that await you in New Orleans, complete with our picks at each location and ingredient list, as well as statements from the chefs, and our tips/tricks/insider secrets for each location.   It would be an amazing coffee table book or Christmas present for your loved ones!   It’s $31,95 including shipping, and you’ll also receive the link to the companion PDF guide that will be updated as locations change their menus.   The sale price is $26.95,  that will be valid from 8/2 until the book goes live on 8/30.  Link will be posted tomorrow!
